Trinity’s Service Week: July 23rd-July 30th! Everyone Welcome!

Opportunities are planned for Trinity members to participate in doing “God’s work. Our hands.”! A detailed description of each event can be found below. Plan to join in the fun and fellowship!

Visit the Outreach bulletin board for information and sign-ups, and feel free to contact Elayne Olson with any questions.

FOOD DRIVE (July 23rd): The number of families using the Mount Joy Food Bank and Helping Services continues to rise. On Sunday, July 23rd we will hold a “Food Drive” to show our continued support of this program.

Non-perishable food items will be collected at our rear entrance and in the back of the sanctuary. Monetary donations designated for Mount Joy Helping Services are also welcome. Help will be needed at the collection tables, before each service, to assist with sorting donations.

LITTLE DRESSES FOR AFRICA (July 26th): For a number of summers, Trinity members and friends have gathered in our Fellowship Hall to create dresses from pillowcases. Some even continue to make them all year round at home in anticipation of gathering together in the summer. Anyone can participate! Sewing skills are not required, as there are steps for cutting, piecing and ironing. We will meet Wednesday, July 26th 9:00am-3:00pm. Come and go as needed and bring a bagged lunch.

To learn more of the organization and how they provide relief to vulnerable children throughout the continent of Africa and beyond, go to their website. Together, we make a difference, one little dress at a time!

Items Needed: New Pillowcases, 1” Wide Binding, 1/4” Elastic

BINDING LOVE (July 26th): A new project for Trinity! Participants are asked to bring a few articles of used clothing to upcycle into one-of-a-kind infinity scarves. Our part of this project will be to use the provided pattern to cut the clothing into the desired size to make these scarves. Any type of fabric can be used with patterns, solids, appliques. We will meet Wednesday, July 26th 1:00pm-3:00pm and/or 6:00pm-8:00pm.

This is a local, non-profit that creates the infinity scarves and sells them in local stores. Each scarf sold makes an impact on the fight against human trafficking and the prevention with at-risk children in Thailand. Go to their website to learn what this organization has done since 2012 and where a scarf can be purchased locally.

FAITH ON THE FARM (July 27th): Trinity children ages 6-12 are invited to join in a day project at The Wittel Farm on Thursday, July 27th. This is an event for Trinity only and parents may choose to stay or drop off their registered child(ren). Our Outreach Coordinator, Elayne Olson, will be in attendance for the entire length of the project. This will be a unique experience. Using lessons from Jesus’ parables, hands-on activities, games, worship and tending/harvesting vegetables for The Wittel Farm Growing Project, we will learn about hunger and justice issues and how they can have a real and positive impact on those who are food insecure.

Please meet at Wittel Farm in Elizabethtown. We will begin at 9:30am and conclude at 1:30pm, lunch is included. There is a cost of $8.00 and one non-perishable food item per person which must be submitted with the registration form found at the Outreach bulletin board. Email Elayne with questions or if you would like the form electronically. Sign-up deadline is July 16th. Check out who’s coming at and list your name as well.

CENTRAL PA FOOD BANK (July 29th): Help to form a group of volunteers to serve on Saturday, July 29th from 9:00am-12noon. A variety of activities may need accomplished so a large group is helpful! Examples: repackaging non-perishable food items into boxes for shipment, placing fresh produce into bags for distribution, etc. Please wear comfortable work clothing and closed toe, sturdy footwear.
We will carpool from Trinity’s parking lot, leaving at 8:15am and volunteers must be 12 years or older (although 12-15 years of age require a guardian). A sign-up sheet is posted at the Outreach Ministry Board.

BLESSED BUNDLES (July 30th): (Formally “Backpacks of Love”) In April, with the help of Trinity members, the Garcia Family began their project of assembling packs of personal care items, clothing and extras for youth in Lancaster County entering the foster care system. With the distribution of the completed packs, we will begin a collection on Sunday, July 30th so additional packs can be assembled.
Donations will be accepted at Trinity through August 27th for boys and girls age 2 – 17, and gender neutral items for newborn to 18mth. A complete listing can be found on tags located at the Outreach bulletin board or in the back of the sanctuary. Examples of items needed, but not limited to, are: new or gently used backpacks/diaper bags, socks, underwear/diapers, pajamas, nightlight, hair brush/sturdy wide tooth comb, single wrapped toothbrush/toothpaste and deodorant.
